The Truth From Our Perspective - A series of articles written in 2006 by members of Iowa Carry.
This is a large format copy of the Iowa "Permit Issue Policy" map. It will be updated whenever there is a change to the interactive version of this map.
These are copies of actual permits that were issued to Iowa citizens. You will note that every one of these permits are essentially useless pieces of blue paper. If anyone has a permit that they would like to add to this document, we'll be happy to add it!
The Iowa Joint Public Safety Board released a resolution in early 2009 that opposed the fight for Shall Issue. (Reference link.) Iowa Carry has our own resolution in place, consisting of law enforcement officers and public safety officials who do NOT agree with the IJPSB resolution. We are always looking for more LEOs and PSOs who believe that the right to self-defense is a right that should not be restricted by any elected official on a whim.
The ISSDA is planning on calling a meeting of all 99 Sheriffs together for a meeting during the summer of 2009. Iowa Carry believes it is important for all Sheriffs to clearly understand our position, and why we are fighting to bring Iowa into a Shall Issue system of permit issuance. We sent a letter to all of the Sheriffs outlining our position on May 17, 2009. You can read a copy of it here.
Firearms Fact Sheet - a compilation of facts, with references, detailing the truth about firearms used as self defense.
The Violence Policy Center works very hard to ensure that YOUR right to self-defense is removed through restrictive anti-gun laws. Here is an analysis of one of their "studies" that attempts to portray permit holders as being dangerous. Once the flaws are explosed, it is clear that their study cannot be used to defend their position.
This is a letter we sent to Senator Harkin, with a copy to Attorney General Miller and Des Moines Police Chief Bradshaw, regarding Senator Harkin's decision to vote against an amendment that would have provided nationwide reciprocity for permit holders. One of our members originally wrote Sen. Harkin expressing his disappointment over his nay vote on the amendment, and Harkin responded with the usual anti-gun propaganda. On behalf of the member, all members of Iowa Carry, and all citizens of Iowa, we responded to the Sen. Harkin letter with one of our own.
Ted Nugent talks about the Second Amendment and the God-given right of self-defense on KLRU-TV, Austin, Texas.
